Keeping it versus trying it
A free-to-keep promotion lets you claim a game in the named library under the offer’s terms. Check the claim deadline and ownership wording. A free weekend usually gives temporary access instead; you may need to buy the game to carry on afterwards.
Free to play means you can start the base game without buying it. Optional items, expansions or other purchases can still cost money. A demo is a limited preview, not ownership of the full game.
Do the download maths
A short free event is less useful if most of your evening goes into installing it. Check the stated end time, download size and any account setup before persuading your friends to join.
Do not assume progress carries into a purchased copy, or that a free weekend includes every mode and expansion. Look for explicit information on the official page.
