How do I find a demo worth trying?
GGPN helps you find demos and get to the official download page. Choose Demo in the Access filter, open something interesting and check what the preview includes before installing.
Try it on GGPN
- On GGPN, open Find your next game and look for Demo under Access. Choose a timeline zone and press Show games.
- Read the game page to see the offered version, platform and any timing information.
- Open official for the download or entry requirements. GGPN points you to the source; it does not host the demo.
Build a small demo queue
Start with two or three games that do something different. Check the official store or developer page for an actual demo download; an upcoming release date or playtest sign-up is not the same thing.
During a showcase, do not assume every featured game has a demo—or that a demo will remain available after the event. Look for any stated deadline before putting it off.
Check what you are downloading
- Is this a separate demo, a timed trial, or a test that needs approval?
- Does it include the mode you want, especially online co-op?
- Are your device, controls and region supported?
- Does the developer say whether progress carries into the full game? If not, assume nothing.
Leave yourself one useful note
After playing, jot down what worked and what did not. “Loved building, awkward camera” is more useful than another forgotten wishlist entry. If the full game is still upcoming, you can watch it on GG Play Now and check its official page again when it becomes playable.
A demo represents that build and slice of the game. It cannot prove the final version’s performance, length or complete feature set.
